EPM provided the Nova Scotia SPCA with a new site built in Joomla that is integrated with the PetFinder.com listings.
The Nova Scotia SPCA circulated an RFP in 2011 to rebuilt their old, antiquated website. Built strictly in HTML documents, the old website had grown over several years to an impossible to manage monster of a site.
We, being big animal fans, were excited to win the RFP, and went to work taming the content of the current site. Working with the SPCA, we combed through every page, trimming, cutting, and reorganizing the content. The remaining content was then ported to a newly designed Joomla managed site and was organized into a concise and easy to manage structure.
The next part of the project involved standardizing all of the microsites for each individual branch of the organization. For this, we setup sub sections of the main website, and setup administrative accounts for each branch to manage their own content.
Each branch website is integrated with the PetFinder.com listings using a custom application that uses PetFinder’s API to feed listings out to the website, thus eliminating the need for the branch to repost the available adoptable listings on the site as well.
